On May 17, 2021, Governor Kay Ivey signed a law (SB 46) to create a cannabis program for medical use in the State of Alabama.  Medical use cannabis is limited to pill form, oils and topical products and cannot be smoked or vaped under the new law.  The law calls for the creation of the Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission to establish will regulatory oversight framework and continuous monitoring model.  Cannabis laboratories wanting to test cannabis in Alabama will be required to obtain ISO 17025 accreditation.  Read more here and contact COLA to set up an introduction to our accreditation program for cannabis laboratories.
