COLA Inc. is engaged with the CDC’s Laboratory Outreach Communication System (LOCS) in the Division of Laboratory Systems (DLS) to transmit their public health messages to our laboratories and affiliates. 


On July 1, 2021, the CDC published an important update regarding the three cases of melioidosis caused by Burkholderia pseudomallei identified in the United States. One of the three cases was reported in Kansas in March of 2021 and the other two were reported in Minnesota and Texas in May of 2021. The CDC is providing guidance to physicians and laboratories regarding identification and biosafety as well as an update of potential origin.
