Culture-Based Testing Guidance for Monkeypox Virus

COLA Inc. is engaged with the CDC’s Laboratory Outreach Communication System (LOCS) in the Division of Laboratory Systems (DLS) to transmit their public health messages to our laboratories and affiliates. 

On June 24, 2022, the CDC issued a lab advisory related to culture-based testing for monkeypox virus. According to the CDC, laboratory personnel should only perform culture-based testing for monkeypox virus if they have validated and approved protocols, BSL-3 containment facilities and smallpox vaccinated staff.
